Room Descriptions

An alcove such as this is a typical feature in Japanese-style zashiki room decoration. It is a space for displaying hanging scrolls, flowers, and other seasonal decorations for quests to enjoy.

Staggered shelves are considered a zashiki decoration for shoin-zukuri rooms.

The 3.5-tatami mat front room and 10-tatami mat space are separated by fusuma sliding doors.
